Center for Information Management Studies

"Managing information" is a concept that has been around for a while. Yet today’s companies continue to grapple with how to capture, organize, distribute, and leverage their intrinsic data. That’s because information is one of the organization’s most plentiful, valuable, powerful, and elusive assets. More than a technical discussion, information management has become part of the strategic language of successful organizations.

Given today’s strategic and organizational prominence of information management, CIOs and their teams face opportunities to, and challenges in, transforming information into useable knowledge for the organizations, including:

  • Attracting and retaining key IT professionals for the businesses’ ever-shifting IT talent needs
  • Assessing, articulating, and continuing to measure the value of significant IT investments
  • Deploying information technology to automate and enable the performance of an organization’s critical cross-functional business processes
  • Ensuring the organization is protected to minimize risks to networks, systems, and information maintained by technology systems

The Center for Information Management Studies (CIMS) is a consortium of member companies, industry experts, and academic leaders that open and advance the IT management dialog. CIMS promotes the effective application of information technology and helps companies develop successful IT managers and leaders.

Specifically for IT executives, managers, and senior professionals, CIMS’ workshops, executive courses, and thought leadership materials address today’s issues that dramatically affect IT teams.

CIMS develops and promotes research of interest to our member companies, and, through this research, identifies topics for programs and events.
